Meet Bogota’s Power Couple (And Savor a Little Food Porn, Too)

IMG_5368Departing Bogota, my heart was heavy… I was leaving CRISTINA. I love her. She’s half of power couple Cristina Botero, Executive Director of the Corazon Verde Foundation, and Chef Harry Sasson, multi-restauranted culinary icon of Bogota. Now that I think of it, I LOVE Harry, too.

Cristina is bubbly, gracious, warm, earthy, pretty darn yummy – around her, I felt like we were longtime girlfriends. Harry is cerebral, humble, sweet – reminded me of a quiet brother-in-law at one of our loud family dinners. Together, with their little boy, they’re delicious.

I’m telling you this because when you visit Bogota, you’ll want to know where to eat. Just follow the line to anywhere Harry is cooking and Cristina is present.  www.HarrySasson.com is where to start.

To help expose the world to their drool-worthy destination, the Invest in Bogota organization brought together an intimate group of journalists for Restaurant Week and Alimentarte Festival. Practically the MINUTE we started our adventure, Cristina joined us. After each encounter, I figured that was the last we’d see her or Harry (considering their deep involvement in all the festival and Restaurant Week events and incredibly busy schedules). Yet, there they were at our next function. I mean, these two are STARS. I felt like one of the Cool Kids around them. First, the Alimentarte festival, then dinner at Club Colombia, one of their restaurants. More meals. More events, including Harry’s enlightening words as a featured panelist of the FORO – a forum of Latin America’s most influential chefs.

When I revisit Bogota, I’ll visit Cristina and Harry… go to one of their restaurants.  They just seemed like they’re everywhere.

  • Harry’s Restaurant
  • Club Colombia
  • Harry’s Bar
  • Harry’s Bakery
  • Balzac

AND NOW, our phenomenal three-hour lunch at Harry’s:
