Remember the lady who sued McDonald’s for millions of dollars after she spilled their hot coffee in her lap? If you one day have the chance to see the movie Hot Coffee, I think you might find it quite worthwhile. I now know what a Tort is… besides a yummy dessert. This is a teensy movie review on my food blog because I think the title, Hot Coffee, makes it a fit. I avoid reading before I see movies, but Larry usually WON’T see a flick unless he’s read about it. I prefer to sit in a theater with no expectations, and so dear readers, I had absolutely NO expectations of this film because I didn’t know what it was about (confession to Larry… I put it on my calendar cuz you told me to).
We attended a screening at Southwestern Law School in a roomful of law students, thanks to an invite from Larry’s high school friend and uber-LA-attorney, Neville Johnson. It said wine and refreshments later, along with Q&A with the film maker, Susan Saladoff. You know me… snacks and WINE, I’m there!
Which brings me to my two-word review… Fascinating Flick.
As Dr. Phil would say, “It don’t matter how flat you fry a pancake, it still has two sides.” This is that second side. Here is the trailer. View the trailer first. Then see the movie. THEN I think you can go to their website and learn more, but if you hit the website first, it may scare you off from seeing the film, as it is quite heavy-handed.
