How To Tell if An Egg Is Raw or Hard Cooked

How-to-know-if-an-egg-is-hard-cookedYou’re at the cabin. Everyone else is out hiking. You want an omelet. There’s a bowl of eggs in the fridge. DANG IT, nobody labeled them! Are they raw? Hard cooked?

You are smart, you studied physics in school… remember “inertia?” Take the egg and spin it on a smooth surface. Touch it for a split second with your finger and then LET GO. If it continues to spin, it’s raw because the insides keep moving. If it stops, it’s cooked because the inside is solid.

Interesting tip! For me I just shake the egg and if I feel movement inside I know if it is raw or not. Of course though, I really risk breaking the egg though in my case…
