How to Snag a Seat at Martha’s

Freezing weather is the ticket.  Stand outside the Today Show during a New York City mid-week morning and watch for personnel giving away tickets to the Martha Stewart Show.  Why do they do that?  In such arctic conditions, no one wants to stand on line outdoors for any show.

One recent winter, my friend, Vicki, and I braved 4 degree wind chill to wave signs to the Today Show camera; after a few good shots, Vicki bailed.  I snagged a show ticket and cab to Martha’s.

Truth be told, I rarely watch the show, but I DO like Martha.  I like that she took a bullet and went to prison.  She (allegedly) made a vegetable garden there, and taught inmates how to crochet.  She still publishes that magazine and runs that show.

And once out, didn’t Martha seem quite a bit nicer?  Is this a case where correctional institution “rehabilitation” worked?

I am not sure the “before” Martha would let her daughter host a TV show that pokes fairly nasty at mother, but “Whatever Martha” is fun to watch – once.  OK, twice if Alexis is pointing out how mom flirts with handsome men.  ha!

The magazine arrives monthly and there’s probably one article that goes into my “keep” book.  Which now has morphed into the BLOG PROJECTS binder, I am motivated.
